As noted, in 2017, India harvested a record wheat crop amounting to 96.6 million tons, most of it went to replenish state reserves, while the proposal on the physical market remains limited.

According to Vice-President of COFCO Rajiv Yadav, to date, India has already contracted 300 thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat. The above contract is mainly millers of the South, for which to buy grain in foreign markets are still cheaper than to pay for its transportation from the Northern regions of India – Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.
