Note that the growth of the total cereal production in the country contributed to the increase in the gross harvest of corn, which is projected at the level of 27.14 million tons – a record for India. Driver for the growth of grain production in the current season are favorable weather conditions and expansion of sowing areas.

Rice production in the country is projected at about 111 million tons, 1.3 million tons higher than the 2016/17 MG. The gross yield of leguminous crops is also estimated at a record level - 23.95 million tons compared to 23.13 million tonnes in the season-2016/17.

At the same time, it is noted that the wheat crop will drop slightly – to 97,11 million tons, 1.4 million tons is inferior to the result of the previous season, however, exceeded the annual average (93,34 million tons). The decrease in the production of grain is due primarily to a decrease of 4.27% of the sowing areas, as well as a reorientation of the Indian farmers for the cultivation of leguminous crops.
