As reported by Rosselkhoznadzor, as of January 15, detained 19,576 thousand tons of banned products, including 18,853 thousand tons of vegetable products and 723,7 tons of products of animal origin; of them destroyed 19,298 thousand tons.

Thus, as of January 9, the office was arrested 18,655 thousand tons of prohibited plant products and 723,7 tons of products of animal origin, and destroyed - 19.1 thousand tons.

Russian President Vladimir Putin at the end of July 2015 signed a decree of destruction from August 6 of the same year of products prohibited for import in the country under anticyclonic measures (the so-called food embargo). The government was allowed to destroy such food by any legal means.

This measure does not apply to goods imported by citizens for personal use. According to Russian authorities, the sanctions the destruction of products helps to reduce the flow of contraband food, as it becomes economically disadvantageous.
