Plans for growth of supply was the main topic at a meeting of representatives of the Ministry of foreign trade of Uzbekistan with the Russian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin.
It was noted that an important step towards the development of trade relations between Russia and Uzbekistan was the introduction of "Green corridor" that will significantly simplify the procedure of supply of agricultural products, in particular, measures for phytosanitary control of fruits and vegetables.
According to the Ministry of agriculture, for seven months last year, import of goods produced by the farmers of Uzbekistan increased by 27% to $75 million in cash. The reason for the positive dynamics was to expanding fruit and vegetable production.
In turn, the state statistics Committee of Uzbekistan shows that last year exports of fruit and vegetable production and products of its processing amounted to $708,8 million overall, which is 15.6% above the levels recorded a year earlier. The most active foreign partners are bought fruits and berries (35.9 percent), vegetables (30.7%) and grapes (22.5 per cent).
Russia in the list of buyers ranked second, accounting for 18% of the total supply. It is second only to Kazakhstan (46,4%) and ahead of countries such as Afghanistan (6.6 per cent), China (5.7 percent), Turkey (4,5%), Kyrgyzstan (4.3%) and Iraq (1.7 percent).
