Ukraine "more than sufficient" reserves of grain, people should not worry about it. With the corresponding statement today, June 21, by the Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine, the correspondent of IA REGNUM.

The authority recalls the words of the Deputy Minister Viktor Sheremet.

"I want to remove all the fears of our countrymen that Ukraine may be a shortage of grain, particularly wheat. Today we have so much grain that we for internal consumption of bread enough for fifth, and the rest of the grain we export to feed the world. We collect and will collect at least 60 million tons of grain," — said the official.

According to the Ministry, now the producers-farmers are considering the sales of the new harvest and fall field work. It is emphasized that usually from the beginning of the harvesting campaign of grain prices on the domestic market are falling.

Earlier, first Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Maxim Martyniuk also said that in 2018, the Agency retains the crop forecast at 60 million tons. In 2017, the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine totaled 61.3 million tons, in 2016 — the crop was even higher.

On June 18 edition of "Today" reported that on some farms of the Kherson, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhia regions in the first days of harvest were harvested on average twice less than last year (12-15 quintals per hectare). As stated in the article, the reason for the abnormal drought — farmers from the southern regions, fear that can gleaning up to 40% or more of early grain crops.

Director of the Association of retail suppliers Oleksiy Doroshenko predicts the growth of prices for grain products.

"For bread and animal feed of their harvest will be enough, perhaps, less will be exported. But if the drought continues, the grain will be of poor quality, so wheat is obviously more expensive. Also from 1 July will increase social standards, this would entail wage growth will continue to rise in price of energy. This means that the fall can be expected to increase prices by 20-25% for white bread, flour, pasta," — said in an interview with Doroshenko.

REGNUM news Agency notes that on 20 June the state statistics service of Ukraine reported that in January-may 2018 compared with the same period last year the price of bread increased by 18.4%.

Immediately after the coup in the Ukraine in the winter of 2014, the US Ambassador in Kiev said that Ukraine should soon become an "agricultural superpower."
