"Australian farmers are among the least subsidised in the world, and this means that our exports in agriculture is particularly vulnerable by increasing state support of competitors," he says.

Mahar believes that additional subsidies to Americans especially will harm the Australian agricultural market in light of the fact that farmers in Australia are now actively struggling with a massive drought. In the summer of 2018 suffered from it 98% of the territory of New South Wales, and two thirds of the territory of Queensland. As a result, farmers in these States are forced to buy forages in other regions.

The United States is planning to subsidize farmers and purchase not exercised their raw materials. More state support will be farmers growing soybeans, sorghum and wheat.

Trump's promise to increase the state support of agriculture was a response to the dissatisfaction of farmers, who have criticized the country's leadership after the outbreak of a trade war. The Minister of agriculture of the United States Sonny Perdue confirmed that the Agency will help farmers who suffered losses due to trade wars. According to the Ministry, the total loss to American farmers is estimated at about $11 billion.

Cause trade wars became the US imposed tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and the EU production of steel and aluminium. The EU since mid-June has imposed retaliatory duties in the amount of 25% of the number of the American metallurgical, machine-building and agricultural products.
