Lithuania enters the food card
Prime Minister of Lithuania Saulius Squirrels said in an interview with radio station Ziniu radijas that the government is going in the first half of 2019 to introduce a system of ration cards for staple foods for the promotion of small and medium business.
The system of ration cards could be an alternative return of value added tax residents. It is planned that the cards will be sold in post offices of Lithuania for €8. On coupons you can purchase products with a price of €10 with 20% discount. The Lithuanian authorities have not yet determined whom to grant access to this system.
Holders of coupons will be able to buy the products of local farmers, which should contribute to the formation of farmer cooperatives and the opening of new outlets.
