As noted by Dmitry Patrushev, the trade turnover of agricultural products between countries in 2018 increased by 7% and reached 3 billion dollars. Almost two-thirds of its volume is exported from Russia, which last year amounted to 1.9 billion U.S. dollars.
Turkey remains one of the largest consumers of Russian wheat. In 2018 the volume of supply of this crop increased by 40% to 930 million dollars. Meanwhile, the Russian exporters are interested in further increase of grain supplies and expanding its items.
At the end of last year, Turkey introduced a quota on imports in 2019 75 thousand tons of meat of cattle from all countries with zero customs duty rate. At the moment, the Supervisory services of the two countries agreed on the certificates for the supply of domestic beef on the Turkish market. During the meeting an agreement was reached on the allocation of Russian enterprises import quotas in Turkey on 5 thousand tons of meat of cattle with zero rate of import customs duties, with the possibility of further increase of the specified volume. This was another important step for the development of cooperation and bilateral trade.
For its part, Russia has created all the conditions for the access of Turkish agricultural products in the domestic market. In particular, it was decided to further increase the volume of import of tomatoes from Turkey by 50 thousand tons (100 thousand tons). At the same time Dmitry Patrushev drew the attention of Turkish colleagues on the need to strengthen the phytosanitary control and quality compliance supply to Russia of fruits and vegetables.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of agriculture has proposed to develop other areas of bilateral relations. So, our country is interested in exchanging experience and technologies. For the activities of foreign companies in the agro-industrial sector in Russia all conditions are created, in connection with which our country hopes to intensify investment cooperation.
