A Protocol permitting the supply of honey from Argentina to Moscow was signed on March 19, 2019. Before that, the Chinese experts conducted inspections in respect of Argentine producers. Argentina ranks third in the world in terms of honey production and second in exports. In 2018, Argentina exported 70 thousand tons of this product in the amount of $ 175 million, though China is the largest producer and the world's leading exporter of honey, there is demand for the imported product to the high cost, according to the Ministry of agro-industry of Argentina.
