Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Sergey Levin headed the Russian delegation at the 9th meeting of Ministers of agriculture of the interstate Association of BRICS, which took place in Sao-Paulo and G. Bonito (the Federative Republic of Brazil) in the framework of the presidency of Brazil in BRICS.

The main theme of the meeting this year was the promotion of innovation and measures to promote the search for new solutions in the field of food production systems.

During the session heads of delegations emphasized the priority of implementing the objectives of the Agenda for sustainable development until 2030. The meeting also highlighted the need for sharing best practices and expertise to strengthen international cooperation.

In his report Sergey Levin spoke about the digital transformation of domestic agriculture and the state program of development of rural territories. "We need to find a balance between the intensification of agriculture that does not harm the nature and development of farming and of rural areas", - said the Deputy head of the Ministry of agriculture.

At the meeting the Ministers signed a joint Declaration covering relevant for the BRICS countries the theme of using new technologies in the communication field, the development of agricultural start-UPS, trade and regionalization, as well as sustainable development of agriculture.
