Gross harvest of rye in 2019 in Russia amounted to 1,429 million tons. This is the minimum harvest more than the Deputy half a century — since 1965.
The decline in rye production has led to higher prices. So, in November of 2019 the price of rye rose as much as 43% to 8942 rubles per ton. The purchase price of rye processors increased by 44% to 12 665 rubles per ton.
In the short term, the price of rye will only grow, and the volume of trade to decline. Experts expect that in the coming months, the rye will grow by another 500-700 rubles per ton.
Some factors to cost containment in the rye can be: import of rye flour from Belarus, substitution of rye flour for flour second grade manufacturers of bread.
This state of Affairs in the market of rye, are likely to affect the growth of prices for bakery products from rye and mixtures of rye and wheat flour. Price growth is projected at 6.5−7 per cent for the year.
The experts noted that in a greater degree to increase the price of bread is affected by other factors — housing prices, rents, higher prices for fuel and lubricants and transport services, as well as on the packaging.
