Earlier this month, Commerce Minister Apiradee Tantraporn said that the rice export this year will reach 10.5 million tons, much higher than previously planned for 9.5 million tonnes.

Thailand, the second largest world exporter of rice after India, to fulfill the plan for supply of rice this year, having previously signed export contracts in early January, said Duangporn Rodphaya, head of foreign trade Department of the Ministry of trade.

The largest buyers of rice from Thailand are Benin, côte d'ivoire, South Africa and Cameroon.
