While the export potential of Ukrainian wheat in the 2016/17 season, according to UkrAgroConsult estimates, will decrease by 7-8% compared to last year due to a reduction of yield.

According to official statistics, during the five months of the current season wheat exports from Ukraine increased by 7.7% compared to the same period in 2015/16.

In December, the pace of wheat exports from Ukraine went on the decline. In just the first half of the 2016/17 season Ukrainian exporters have supplied to foreign markets a little more than last season.

The main feature ending 2016 was a strengthening of the position of Ukrainian wheat in the Indian market. For the first half of the season, India has become a key importer of wheat from Ukraine, surpassing such major global buyers, such as Egypt, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Thailand.
