Wheat prices in major grain-producing States is now close to the purchase price of this crop in the state Fund: 16 040-16 810 rupees ($248-260) per ton.

Domestic consumption of wheat in India, according to forecasts of FAS USDA, will continue to grow and this season will increase to 99 million tonnes (97,5 million tons last season).

Due to the record harvest of wheat imports will decrease to 4 (6) million tons and carryover stocks will rise to 10.14 (9,64) million tonnes.
