In particular, the panel reduced the estimate area planted under grain to 5.2 million hectares due to the fact that the order of 100-150 thousand hectares in the South and South-East of the province of Buenos Aires, likely to remain uninoculated as the result of precipitation, which prevents the release of technology in the field. Currently, sowing of wheat in this region is markedly delayed, whereas in the whole country grain already sown 90% of the planned areas.

At the same time, the experts raised its forecast for the Argentine corn harvest in 2017 to 5.2 million hectares, which is 300 thousand tons higher than USDA's estimate. The area sown to grain, according to preliminary estimates, will increase by 5-10% in comparison with level of last year because corn is currently the most profitable crop for Argentinian farmers.

The barley crop is estimated at 1.2 million tonnes, to 100 tonnes below the USDA forecast.
