It should be noted that despite the record amount of purchases of maize in July, which amounted to 0.9 million tonnes, total imports of grain into the country during the period under review decreased to 1.65 (2.9) in million tons, due to the implementation by the PRC government strategic plan to reduce corn stocks in the country. Purchases of sorghum also decreased to 3.57 (4,48) million tonnes of dry bards – to 0,3 (1,9) million tons.

At the same time, the decline in imports of corn were offset by increased purchases of wheat and barley to 2.86 (of 2.08) million tons and 5.23 (2,55) million tons respectively.
