In his first yield forecast for the 2018/19 season, the examiners estimated winter wheat yield at 6.2 t/ha (of 6.12 t/ha in 2017.) or +1.4% over the five-year average value.

The yield of winter barley will be of 6.05 t/ha (of 5.99 t/ha by 2017.), which is also above average (+1%)

However, canola plants are more sensitive to frost than wheat and could be damaged by frost in countries such as Germany and Poland. The risk of freezing was observed in small areas in Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. The yield of rapeseed is projected at 3.28 MT/ha, higher than in 2017.- 3,25 t/ha, but lower than the average annual rate (-0.2 percent).
