Brazil: processing corn into ethanol in 2018/19 FG can grow 3 times
According to the Association of producers of soybeans and corn in the state of Mato Grosso Aprosoja, ethanol production in Brazil in the 2018/19 financial year (April–March) may increase about 3 times in comparison with level of the previous FY and reach around 1.5 billion litres, at a cost to produce approximately 3.75 million tons of corn, according to AgriCensus

The experts reminded, at the end of FY 2017/18 production of ethanol in the country has also increased about 2 times, to 500 million liters against 234 million liters in the previous season.

As specified, the increased usage of corn in ethanol production in the country maintained a high level of investment in this sector, compared with investments in the processing of sugar cane. In this regard, on expectations of analysts of the Association, the consumption of corn in ethanol production in Brazil for 5 years may increase to 10 million tons of grain per year.

However, despite the rapid development of the industry for processing corn into ethanol, currently the main raw material for the production of these products in Brazil sugar cane from which to 2017/18 FY was produced 27 billion litres of biofuels.
