The lowest offer in Iraq’s tender to buy at least 30,000 tonnes of rice which closed this week was $478 a tonne c&f free out (ciffo) for 120,000 tonnes of rice from Thailand, European traders said on Wednesday.

The tender closed on July 15 and offers must remain valid until Friday, July 19. No purchase has yet been made, traders said.

Other offers included 42,000 tonnes of Thai rice at $485 a tonne ciffo and 80,000 tonnes of Thai rice at $488.80 a tonne ciffo, traders said.

Lowest offer for Argentine rice was for 30,000 tonnes at $705 a tonne ciffo. Some 30,000 tonnes of U.S. or Uruguayan rice was offered at $717 a tonne c&f liner out.

Tender results are expected later this week.
