The Agro2b portal made a list of the most essential events which strongly influenced the sphere of agriculture and food production.

1 . The most dramatic event of the year is a Shakespearean style performance staged by Belarus under the name Uralkali.

 2  .  The most sad event of the year is no doubt African swine fever spread and its animal victims.

3 . The most mysterious event of the year, in our opinion, is resignation of the super - the hero, a barrier to overseas infection, chief health officer Gennady Onishchenko.

4  .  Before Onishchenko's resignation he managed to make the last two epic feats.  The first of them is unexpected.  Onishchenko LET fruit from Georgia IN the Russian Federation.

5. Onishchenko's second feat is traditional. Benzapyrene was suddenly found in candies of Ukrainian Roshen, and subsequent checks only worsened the situation. Roshen flinched, but didn't give up.

6 . And again Shakespearean passions! Ukraine turned away from an eligible European bachelor and again started to flirt with Russia – but in a way that nobody noticed.

 7 . We couldn't avoid natural disasters. The September high water, which had covered the Far East, fortunately had no toll. However, thousands lost property or remained homeless. The agriculture sector was terrifically damaged.

8 . Good news: the government decided to freeze tariffs of natural monopolies in 2014.

9. Expectations of a new crisis are in the air. However, instead of stagnation we have sharp and unexpected jumps in prices. Sudden rise in eggs prices was explained by the Ministry of Agriculture with growth of fodders prices, however chicken meat and pork prices, which also depend on fodders prices, behave rather decently. And eggs don't hurry to become deficient.

10 .  Russia is going to legalize GMOs and allow their production and distribution.
