The Minister of agriculture, food and environment of Spain Isabel Garcia Tejerina believes that agriculture organization of the country can give out in demand due to the Russian ban on the import of fruit in charity, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the Spanish TV channel ABC.
"We will try to make a large part of the fruit that was unclaimed, went on the needs of Spanish charities and, if possible, was aimed at the development of international cooperation", - said Tejerina before meeting with representatives of agricultural organizations.
According to the Minister, Spain now leads the analysis of the volume of supply of fruit in Russia. Last year the export volume of fruit in the Russian Federation in monetary terms amounted to EUR 337 million, from January to may 2014 exported fruit to 107 million euros, said the Minister. She also reported that the Spanish government intends to establish a working group that will deal with the search for new markets and access to them. Tejerina noted that the access to new markets outside the EU will require a lot of time "due to requirements of sanitary requirements".
The Minister also invited the Spaniards to increase consumption of fruit. "Scientists recommend eating five fruits a day", "she said.
