Beer company Carlsberg plans to reduce the size of the bottles and accordingly the content of beer in them, to avoid raising prices on the Russian market. The head of the Danish company Jorgen Buhl Rasmussen said this in a telephone interview with American news service Bloomberg after Carlsberg announced the expected deterioration of the annual indicators "because of the shrinking market in Russia".

According to the publication, the planned reduction will apply to half of the total sales of Carlsberg in Russia". Thanks to this initiative, "we don't have so much to raise prices, because we will be able to keep the same price indicators, but slightly decrease the volumes," said Rasmussen.

Bloomberg reports that the company owns, in particular, popular brand Tuborg, plans and other measures "to stabilize their business in Russia, where she is faced with inflation and high taxes". Among these measures is referred to the introduction of new goods, including alcoholic drink with lemon, as well as "sponsoring hockey League".

Previously Carlsberg Group reported that sales of beer in the 1st half of 2014 decreased by 3% compared with the previous year to 67,7 billion Danish kroner (about 9 billion euros), including by reducing the share of the Russian market, as well as the weakening of the ruble.

Carlsberg is a Danish brewing company founded in 1847. After the purchase of Scottish & Newcastle in may 2008, Carlsberg became the owner of Baltic Beverages Holding, the largest shareholder of the Russian brewing company "Baltika". To this Baltic Beverages in equal shares was owned by Carlsberg and Scottish & Newcastle.
