Exports of Swiss cheese in Russia increased almost five times because of the ban on the supply of food from the EU, introduced by Russia, according to the Federal customs administration Switzerland, reports Lenta.ru with reference to the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

In September last year, the volume of supply of Swiss cheese in Russia amounted to 28 tons, in September of this year is already 160 tons. According to the Director of the company Intercheese Daniel Damulira, export of Ukrainian cheese to Russia has grown three times, until the end of the year, according to the plan, will be delivered about 90 tons. Most popular cheeses of the lower price segment, said Datorer. However, the company intends to occupy a niche gourmet cheeses, as after removal of the embargo on EU products market may be lost. The annual demand of the Russian Federation in the cheese is estimated at 250 thousand tons per year, and Switzerland are unable to fully meet this need.
