Specialists of the Israeli agricultural Ministry has analyzed the prices of fruits and vegetables and found that about 80% of their value takes not the manufacturer, the farmer, and the sellers and intermediaries.

"Israeli farmers are forced to sell tomatoes and cucumbers on average 1 shekel 40 agorot (about $ 0.4) per kilogram. Further, "cheat" rates, sometimes up to 80% on the conscience of numerous intermediaries, starting with wholesalers to large retail chains", - told the Minister of agriculture of Israel Yair Shamir.

Shamir said that the Ministry is preparing a draft law on the basic basket of vegetables and fruit will be set fixed prices for producers and sellers of products.

"The Minister of agriculture with the approval of the Finance Committee of the Parliament will determine the underlying basket of vegetables, the maximum profit from the sale of which will be limited and regulated. This is most directly affect rates and lower consumer spending on food", - explained Shamir.
