Ukraine has reduced the supply of salt in Russia by 40%
The volume of supply of salt from Ukraine this year amounted to 488 thousand tons for the sum of $20 million

Import of all kinds of salt in Russia from Ukraine from may to September 2014 fell by almost 40% to 488 thousand tons in physical terms or 42% in cash and $20 million compared to the same period of 2013. It follows from the data of the Federal customs service of Russia (FCS).

Earlier it was reported that in may the largest importer of salt in Russia Ukrainian state enterprise of a disused suspended production due to the unstable situation in Ukraine.

Data FCS on the import of salt from Ukraine for October 2014 is not yet available.

"The supply of Ukrainian salt in Russia fell sharply, possibly even to zero", - explained TASS current state of Affairs assistant to the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Alexei Alekseenko. "But for Russia it's not critical", he said.

"Now we have no imbalance or deficiency", in turn, told TASS Deputy agriculture Minister Andrei Volkov. He explained that the carry-over stocks now cover 3-4 month need Russia, and in the future will be a rebalancing of the sources of supply on the Russian company.

According to Volkov, the Ministry of agriculture (MoA) does not yet have statistical data on the market of salt in Russia in 2014. At the end of last week it was reportedthat the Ministry of agriculture has documented the lack of salt due to lower delivery volumes from Ukraine.

"We fix a regular supply on the Russian market for Ukrainian salt, but they are not significant enough to affect the total import volume", - commented TASS development Director of the Association of producers and suppliers of food products (Rusprodsoyuz) Dmitry Vostrikov. He noted that external supply of salt in Russia does not allow you to download national salt company at full capacity and to reach a threshold value corresponding to the Doctrine of prodataset.

According to the Ministry of agriculture, the dependence of the Russian market of edible salt is about 40% by the end of 2013. According to Rusprodsoyuz" the share of foreign supplies of edible salt in the Russian Federation (including Belarus) in the 1st half of 2014 amounted to almost 60% (297,7 thousand tons).
