According to information presented at the round table representatives of major retail chains, price, suppliers of buckwheat during the autumn rose 30-150%. Now residents of the Chelyabinsk region buy this cereal 50-60 roubles per kg, though it cost half the price. However, doubled and demand for buckwheat, and in many stores it is simply not available. "I have personally seen a woman put a full cart of buckwheat flour and are still not satisfied that buckwheat no more", - said the representative of one of the networks. The Department believes that suppliers took advantage of the hype and "inflated" prices.

Meanwhile, grain processors also raised prices on buckwheat, explaining the rising costs of raw materials. "Over the last month and a half the purchase price on buckwheat has tripled, - said the representative of the company "Resource". According to the latest agreement, we purchase raw materials at 24 thousand rubles per ton in the Samara region. In the Altai region, we offer over 27 thousand, while in October bought there for 7.5 thousand."

The situation is aggravated by the lack of actual sales: seeing the unstable situation on the market, manufacturers prefer to hold the product in anticipation of more favorable rates. Stocks of raw materials processors are practically exhausted, although, according to official data, in Russia this year produced more than 740 thousand tons of buckwheat, which is almost 200 thousand tons more than the annual demand (when the recommended consumption rate of 3.5 kg per capita).
