The export of Russian fish in 2014 decreased by 17%

Exports of fish in 2014, compared with the figure recorded in the previous year, decreased by 17%, and this difference will be redirected to the domestic market. This was reported at the meeting of the Federation Council Committee for international Affairs Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation, head of the Federal fishery Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) Ilya Shestakov.

"If you take the statistics, it is already 17% less exports, compared with the previous year. This fish products will go to the domestic market on a larger scale," he said.

Shestakov noted that the transport of fish from the Far East is a complex process and that because of logistics costs in the country "there are big problems from the point of view of delivery".

The head of the Agency also stressed that the government intends to support the industry not only in the far East, but also in other regions of Russia. "We have a fairly large quantities of trout are grown in the Murmansk region. From next year in a modified state program of development of the fisheries sector support for the development of cultures. Next year we provided 400 million rubles to subsidize interest rates on investment loans," he concluded.
