Grain prices on the world market rose sharply because of rumors of a possible restriction of exports from Russia. This was stated by the President of the Russian grain Union (RGU) Arkady Zlochevsky during the conference "agricultural producers in Russia. Winter-2014".

"The recent sharp jump in the stock exchanges (happened) that there were rumors that Russia will limit export, "he said.

According to Zlochevsky, the issue of the possible limitations of the export of Russian grain in 2014/15 agricultural year (July to June) recently discussed at the meeting in the government of the Russian Federation with participation of the Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

Market participants have raised this issue including in connection with a statement of the Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) about the poor quality of the export of grain, which can force the service to reduce the number of issued export certificates on the third to the end of the 2014/15 year.

According to RGU, until the end of 2014/15 the agricultural year Russian exporters will have to take more than 12 million tons of grain. According to the Union by January 2015 Russia will supply to foreign markets around 20 million from 32.6 million tons projected for the current season.

Zlochevsky believes that the Rosselkhoznadzor there is no reason to restrict grain exports because of its low quality. "Our corn is traded as better than, for example, French grain. Almost the entire volume of our grain belongs to the third class in the world market", - he said.

"Pumping all this situation, we raise world prices and thereby increase domestic prices", - the expert said and added that it can not remain without consequences for Russian consumers.
