Fertilizer prices in Russia: grow or not?
The Prime Minister instructed the FAS to control the rising prices of fertilizers before sowing, but experts believe that this area is not worried.

The government intends to check the rising prices of fertilizers in the domestic market before planting: to evaluate the validity of the FAS has instructed Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, according to "Kommersant".

Instruction was given by the Prime Minister in response to the statement of the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on unreasonable increase their value.

"It is clear that the market is transparent, there are export goods, but you want all manufacturers take into account the current situation in the country", - said Medvedev. Indeed, fertilizer prices in Russia are dependent on export, and the weakening of the ruble affects them.

"If the price on the domestic market was much lower than on the outside, we could face a deficit due to the fact that the company will forward the volumes exported. In February, the FAS expert Council, we plan to consider the January results and discuss next steps, if there is a serious price increase", - said the Deputy head of Department Sergey Vershinin. On the exports about 90% of Russian fertilizer.

According to the agroindustrial management bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, on December 22, 2014 more than just increased the average price of ammonium nitrate 33% to 14.3 thousand rubles per ton. On urea prices have risen by 10% to 15.2 thousand rubles per tonne for potassium by 9%, to 12.2 thousand rubles per ton, on the map by 9% to 21.6 thousand rubles per ton. Demand in Russia to 2015 is estimated at 2.6 million tonnes active ingredient.

The head of the Russian Association of manufacturers of fertilizers Igor Kaluga believes that the sharp increase in fertilizer prices in Russia will not. According to him, the Ministry of agriculture, Ministry of industry and FAS agreed discounts of 15-20% for farmers from January to may, thus, according to calculations by the officials, the average cost of agriculture per unit of production because of the discount will decrease by 10-15%. Kaluga notes that large farmers have already acquired the necessary for sowing the amount of fertilizers, smaller and less profitable enterprises are waiting for government assistance.

The head of the company "FosAgro" Andrey Guriev notes that grain prices due to the fall of the ruble grow faster than prices of fertilizers. In the structure of Prime cost of grain in 2014 fertilizers accounted for approximately 6-8%, but now taking into account the devaluation of the ruble is about 3-4%. According to Guriev, now the cost of production of grain - 4-6 thousand rubles per ton, and sold it for 9-10 thousand rubles per ton.

A more acute problem for farmers Guriev says higher prices of imported seeds and crop protection products.

Farmers do not confirm the sharp rise in prices for mineral fertilizers.
