Russia for the 2014 cut imports of fresh and frozen meat in monetary terms by 15% compared to 2013 year to $4.3 billion This follows from the materials of the Federal customs service (FCS) of the Russian Federation. In real terms this indicator during the reporting period exceeded 1 million tons, down 21%.

Imports of fresh and frozen fish in 2014 reached $1.9 billion (649,2 thousand tons), down 16%, both in value and real terms.

Volume of import of poultry meat in volume terms fell by 13% (452,5 thousand tons), and in money - 5% ($798,3 million).

Imports of milk and condensed cream fell by 15.5% to 180,9 thousand tons in bulk and by 18% to $627,4 million in monetary terms.

Russia entered August 7, 2014 the package of measures on sanctions in the USA, Canada, Australia, the EU and Norway offered to them in the conditions of crisis in Ukraine. Retaliatory sanctions constitute a prohibition for a period of one year for import to Russia from these countries are the main categories of food, including meat. However, the restriction does not hit nearly all kinds of finished meat products.
