President Vladimir Putin signed the law on Russia's accession to the international coffee agreement 2007, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the official website of legal information. According to the Ministry of economic development, our country still had in the International coffee organization observer status and will now receive full membership.

The Russian Parliament ratified the law of 4 March. The agreement was adopted on 28 September 2007 in London by resolution of the International Council for coffee and came into force on 2 February 2011. The main goal of promoting the development of international cooperation in the production, trade and processing of coffee, providing opportunities for intergovernmental consultations for equilibrium between demand and supply in the coffee market.

"Becoming an IOC member, Russia will be able to contribute to the agenda of the global coffee community issues that are of economic importance for the enterprises of our country", - informed the Ministry of economic development of Russia.

Priority among them - the modernization of the basic principles of supply of raw coffee for the coffee industry amid high volatility of prices on the stock exchange, harmonization of requirements to quality of raw materials and finished goods imported coffee in Russia, as well as reducing the number of intermediaries in the supply chain of coffee raw materials from producers on the Russian market, which entails a reduction of the cost of the product.

Today, coffee consumption in Russia increased compared to 1998 more than 50% and reached 250 thousand tons per year. Market size in terms of equivalent approached $ 3 billion. The percentage of Russians who regularly consume coffee remains consistently high in recent years (76-77 in 2009-2013).
