Import of all kinds of meat in Russia in January 2015 fell by 67% to 16.7 thousand tons in volume and 75% to the $48.7 million in cash terms compared with January 2014. It follows from the materials of the Federal customs service (FCS).

Supplies of canned meat from foreign markets during this period decreased by 59% to 900 tons or 62% to $4.2 million in cash.

Previously TASS reported that after the introduction of a food embargo experts meat market in Russia feared that countries from the sanctions list will increase the supply of finished meat products, including canned food, to offset its losses from the ban on export of Russian raw materials. However, the reduction of import of raw meat in 2015 was expected for the market trend, due to the embargo and restrictions of the Rosselkhoznadzor on pork imports from the EU in connection with the distribution on the territory of the Union of African swine fever.

Also significantly decreased the imports of butter in the Russian Federation in January 2015 compared to the same month in 2014 by 65% to 4.2 thousand tons in physical terms or 74% to $16 million in monetary terms, according to the FCS.

The import of grain to Russia in January fell by almost 53% to 32 thousand tons, or 47% to $24.7 million in cash. In particular, the supply of wheat and meslin fell by 71% to 10.8 thousand$ tons, or 48% to $4.1 million

Imports of cocoa beans in Russia in January year-on-year decreased by 81.4% of up to 800 tons and by 81% to $2.8 million Shipments of products containing cocoa decreased by 42% to 5 thousand tons, or 50% to $22.8 million

Seriously decreased imports of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in Russia in January 2015 41% to 54.8 thousand tonnes and 49% to $85 million.
