Over the past year in the Omsk region in all categories of farms the number of forage-fed cows has decreased on 3,6 thousand goals. On 1 February the number of cattle in the region had 141,5 thousands of animals, including cows 175,5 thousand, reports IA "OSTREGION".

The Minister of agriculture and food of the region Maxim Chemezov explained a sharp reduction in herd culling unproductive livestock.

The strategy for further development of animal husbandry aimed at the cultivation of highly productive animals to a small herd brought great economic benefits. The emphasis is on breeding animals. In this regard, the economy of the region is carried out culling of low productive livestock, — quotes the official of the Agency. The productivity of the remaining cows has increased.

In the regional agricultural Department stated that "by the end of 2015 in agricultural organizations and peasant (farmer) farms of the region produced 370,4 thousand tons of milk, which amounts to 100.7% compared to 2014. Productivity of cows in the agricultural organizations increased by 126 kg compared to the 2014 year, milk yield per cow amounted to 4 217 kg of milk". The Ministry of agriculture noted that the supply of the Omsk region milk at the end of last year amounted to 109%: in the domestic consumption of milk in the amount of 645 thousand tons were produced 703,1 thousand tons.
