Kaliningrad oblast will be engaged in the reproduction of juvenile commercial fish species such as European whitefish, pike, tench, vimba, European freshwater eel, reported the press service of the Governor of the region.

The plan of measures on reproduction of these species agreed by the regional fisheries Agency and the Western-the Baltic territorial administration (TBTU) of the Federal Agency for fisheries. Function for implementation of the developed plan will take on the newly established structure of the Agency organization Glavrybvod uniting all state fish culture enterprises.

"The work will be carried out on existing capacities in the field of aquaculture, as well as enterprises, which will be built by Glavrybvod. The development of artificial reproduction will increase the population, to develop the technology of fish farming and, of course, to create new workplaces", - the press service quoted the head of the regional Agency for fishery Andrei Mikhalevich.

According to him, this is a promising area of activity for which the region has favorable conditions.

In turn, the head of BBTU Vladimir Zarudny noted that in the field there are already companies that are engaged in the reproduction of fish in small volumes. The experience of their experts will be actively used and capacity is expanded.

"The Curonian spit has already developed the technology for the reproduction of whitefish. Every year in the Bay produced 150 million pieces of larvae. But it is minuscule, a pilot installation, which allows you to only break in technology. For comparison, fish-reception capacity is several million whitefish fry. Artificial reproduction should go many millions, while industrial return will go through the products that fill our shelves", - said Vladimir Zarudny.

Currently under the preservation of valuable species of commercial fish specialists of the experimental fish shop "Zapbaltrybvod" grown and produced in the Curonian lagoon juvenile whitefish and pike. Activities for reproduction of whitefish is from 2009, the total production of fingerlings exceeded 1 million Artificial reproduction of pike for the first time in several years, resumed in 2014, in the Curonian lagoon were four million larvae.
