The panel of arbitrators of the world trade organization (WTO) found that Russian import duties on paper, refrigerators and palm oil are contrary to its rules, the message on the website of the WTO.


"The final duty rates on the considered commodity items exceeded the obligations set out in the schedule of fee reductions made by Russia when joining the WTO. This is the first time when the WTO ruled against Russia", - said in a statement on the organization's website.


WTO, thus, in fact, supported the position of the European Union, accuses Russia of inflating the fees, writes Reuters. The EU estimated loss of exports from Russia's actions in 600 million euros per year. The WTO ruling can be appealed within 60 days.
