General Director of state Corporation "Roscosmos Igor Komarov and the Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of space activities.
"The agreement is aimed at coordinating scientific and technical information and analytical cooperation in the use of space systems of Earth observation for the implementation of state monitoring of agricultural land and land used or made available for agriculture in the structure of lands of other categories", — stated in the message.
It is noted that Igor Komarov stressed the importance of agriculture in the economy and said that last year the Russian space Agency has achieved a great success: has formed a group of spacecraft of Earth remote sensing (ERS) and national economic purposes, "which allows high resolution monitoring anywhere in the country for a week to obtain information about the whole territory of Russia".
In turn, Alexander Tkachev noted the importance of remote sensing and GLONASS to obtain objective data about the land plots in the composition of agricultural land.
"Without high resolution imagery, it is impossible to ensure agricultural lands and their effective use" — are the words of the Minister on the website of Roscosmos.
