Since registration in January 2014 the first case of African swine fever (ASF) in Eastern Europe the epidemic situation of the disease rapidly worsened with the coverage of new territories of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland.

In most cases, the veterinary services of these countries have ratifitsirovala foci of infection in wild boars, the number of which, according to international organizations, this territory has several hundred thousand individuals. Naturally, being in such a densely inhabited by a population of animals, the virus, confirming the characteristic of cross-border and seasonal diseases, less than two years caused more than 2.5 thousand foci of infection.

The veterinary services of these countries have repeatedly stated that in each case the source of infection taken comprehensive measures to prevent further spread of dangerous diseases; so that current EU Directive 2002/60/EC adequately and professionally cover all aspects of issues related to the eradication of and prevention of ASF spread and the measures adopted are sufficient and effective.

However, the existing dynamics of the spread of ASF in Eastern Europe suggests otherwise, and makes almost weekly to review the regionalization of the disadvantaged and are at risk territories.

For more than two years among ASF-Eastern European countries stood out in particular Poland, which, in the opinion of the veterinary service of the country, were able to stop the ASF outbreaks in one area (the area Podlednogo province) and to prevent the spread into the country. According to official data on 1.08.2016 year were recorded in Poland 110 outbreaks of ASF, only 4 of them in domestic pigs in personal subsidiary farms of citizens, and 106 among wild boars, reports IA "Kazakh-Zerno".

In August 2016 there is a sharp deterioration in the epizootic situation for ASF in Poland. In a relatively short period (22.06-10.08.2016 years) in the country there was a case of domestic pigs in 9 localities of two provinces on the territory, which allowed the export of live pigs and a variety of pork products. It is worth noting that a number of new foci is located at a distance of over 100 km inland from the border with the Republic of Belarus and the main epicenter of the outbreaks of ASF in Poland.

In 4 of the 9 affected households the number of pigs ranged from 100 to more than 500 animals, which indicates that the operation of these farms as commercial enterprises on the cultivation, implementation, and as shown the uncontrolled movement of pigs and pork products, in terms of the risk of spread of ASF is invalid.

This situation again indicates the accurate and timely taken by the Rosselkhoznadzor measures to restrict the admission of pork products to the domestic market of EU countries, including Poland.
