Russia and Norway have agreed on quotas of fishing
Russia and Norway have approved quotas for allowable catches of cod, haddock, redfish, Greenland halibut, capelin and other species of aquatic bioresources in the Barents and Norwegian seas in 2017, the press service of the Agency following the meeting of the 46th session of the joint Norwegian-Russian fisheries Commission

"The total allowable catch (TAC) for cod was set in the amount of 890 thousand tons, haddock – 233 thousand tonnes, redfish to 30 thousand tons. Taking into account the scientific evidence on low level of the spawning stock of capelin, the parties agreed on the volume of seizures of this type only for scientific and management purposes", – is spoken in the message of Federal Agency for fishery.

In 2016, the total allowable catch of northeast Arctic cod was 894 thousand tonnes, haddock – 244 thousand tons.

In addition, at the proposal of the Russian side, the TAC of halibut for 2017 increased by 2 thousand tons to 24 thousand tons.

"The Russian side expressed its concern that in 2016 has been closed for the traditional herring fishery areas in the northeastern part of the economic zone of Norway and gave a presentation justifying the adoption of the Norwegian party to the decision to open these areas in August-September 2016. In order to create optimal conditions for the fishery of herring and juvenile sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between Russian and Norwegian scientists in this field", – said the Agency.
