At the plenary session Evgeny Gromyko made a speech on the theme of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation in agriculture.

Announced that in 10 months of 2016, the volume of imports from Azerbaijan to Russia increased compared with the corresponding period last year by almost 25% to $ 217 million. This happened mainly due to the increase in shipments to Russia, the Azerbaijani fruit and vegetables.

Such indicators, according to the Deputy Minister, managed to achieve including thanks to the work of the Russian-Azerbaijani Working group on agriculture, in which also observed significant progress on the expansion of bilateral agricultural cooperation and the list of Azerbaijani and Russian enterprises having to export their products to the markets of both countries.

Special attention Evgeny Gromyko was paid to the importance of traceability of origin and safety of agricultural products. Noted the active work of the veterinary Supervisory authorities of Russia and Azerbaijan.

The Deputy Minister also pointed out promising directions for increasing the supply of Russian agricultural products to the Azerbaijani market, and expressed willingness to supply seed potatoes, grain crops, oil products, and fish and fish products. Evgeny Gromyko stressed that countries need to develop technical and scientific cooperation.

In addition, in the framework of the IASC, the Deputy Minister together with representatives of the Trade representation of Russia in Azerbaijan and the Russian export centre held talks with the head of the Azerbaijani Group of companies "Azersun holding" Abdulbari Gosala.

The sides discussed issues of developing investment cooperation in agriculture, interaction in the sphere of deliveries of Russian seed potatoes and seed of sugar beet in Azerbaijan, exchange of experience in the field of export of programs that support agricultural producers and optimization of logistics for agricultural exports to the markets of Russia and Azerbaijan.

The meeting noted that the activities of the holding company serves to strengthen the Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the field of agriculture, gives a new impetus to development of bilateral cooperation in agriculture, and also allows to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
