After identifying the first case of tuberculosis of cattle, five head of cattle from the herd on one of the cattle farms in Alberta tested positive for bovine tuberculosis, according to the canadian Agency for food inspection (CFIA).

Canadian government officials have imposed a quarantine on 50 farms and ranches, which are located mainly in Alberta and neighbouring Saskatchewan. In total, the quarantine was over 26,000 head of cattle.

Testing of cattle on farms is expected to be held in early January 2017, the newspaper reports Canadian Press. According to preliminary estimates, about 10,000 head of cattle are sent to slaughter for testing procedures.
