Belarus has banned the import into its territory of poultry from the Moscow region of the Russian Federation due was in the region of the cases of birds with highly pathogenic avian influenza. It is reported by the Department of veterinary and food supervision Ministry of Belarus.

"March 8 has imposed temporary restrictions on the import into the Republic of Belarus of the Moscow region of the Russian Federation of live poultry, hatching eggs, wild, zoo and circus susceptible animals, poultry meat, egg powder, mélange, albumin and other food-products, chicken eggs, fluff and feathers," writes the Agency.

In addition, the ban applies to feeds and feed additives from birds, feed and feed additives of vegetable origin, hunting trophies, as well as used equipment for transportation of poultry products, contents, slaughter and cutting of poultry.

The decision was made on the basis of information received from Rospotrebnadzor and Rosselkhoznadzor, the report says.

The Department indicates the need to adopt additional control measures to ensure biological protection of major poultry farms and poultry farms of all forms of ownership in the country.
