Iturup there is provided a project on production of pasture farming of aquatic biological resources, which involves the cultivation of up to 1.3 thousand tons of oysters, crabs, and grey sea urchins and other biological resources. A similar project will be implemented in the village of Golovnino on Kunashir every year will grow to 2.5 thousand tons of oysters, shrimp, scallops etc. a Similar project for the island of Shikotan. The "island fish" offers a annual growing to 1.3 thousand tons of scallops, oysters, crabs.

Japan also invited to participate in the projects for the production of fishmeal, fish oil, processing of scallop, sea cucumber and seaweed. In particular, the project for the production of agar-agar based on natural, ecologically clean raw materials on Kunashir. It is planned to produce up to 800 tons of agar-agar.

The company "Yuzhno-Kurilsk RYBOKOMBINAT" is proposing to build a factory for processing fish waste. Here will establish the annual output of 8 thousand tons of fish flour and 5 thousand tons of fish oil.
