"Prolonged dry hot weather is projected to further increase in the number of locusts and their mass migration to the agricultural crops", – said the Ministry, adding that now the number of grasshoppers exceeds the economic threshold of harmfulness.

A large number of pests recorded in bichurskiy, eravninskiy, Ivolginsky, kubanska, Kyakhta, mukhorshibirskiy, Tarbagatai and Tunkinsky regions of Buryatia.

"The larvae are currently in the phase of the first-third age and just started moving from their place of hatching with natural pastures and hay land", — said the head of the Department of plant, mechanization and modern technology of the Ministry of agriculture of the Republic Andrei Badmaev.

Now in areas where there is a proliferation of locusts, creating a Commission on prevention and liquidation of emergency situations. They include experts of the Buryat branch of the agricultural centre and national emergency management. Experts recommend farmers to spend on pastures, grasslands and fields and preventive measures using insecticide.
