This was stated by the Minister of agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrey Ryumshin. The Minister said that the migratory locust neutralized to adult, winged stage, when the insect can fly great distances.

"People were worried, they knew as soon as the locusts will emerge from the reeds, eating all the forage base, it will go to the gardens, the fields, the gardens. In just a few minutes all their work could be destroyed. And it's not just planting vegetables, it is a source of income for local residents, their secure future. The real threat, the pest has created our crops and all vegetation of the Crimea, because one individual can eat up to a pound of green mass per day", - explained the Minister.

Note that most in the Crimea from the locusts suffered the village of Dzhankoysky and Soviet areas.

The authorities of the Peninsula has allocated additional funds to fight the insects.
