According to the "analysis of the market of baking yeast in Russia", prepared BusinesStat in 2017, the share of imported products on the Russian market for 2012-2016 has significantly decreased. So, in 2012 it accounted for 25.7% of domestic production, and in 2016 – only 5.4%.

From 2012 to 2016, the imports of baking yeast in Russia decreased by 73.8 per cent: from 24.7 to 6.5 kt reduction in the rate was observed annually. In 2013, shipments decreased by 15.4% compared to 2012, and in 2014 – 48.6% compared to 2013, the Main reason for the reduction in imports in these years – the fall of supplies from Ukraine. So, in 2013 they fell by 5.03 thousand tons, and in 2014 – 8.70 thousand tons In 2015, foreign deliveries declined by 38.8% compared to the previous year. A significant drop in import was registered from several countries: Turkey, France, China, Ukraine etc. For a reduction in the rate in 2016 to a greater extent affected by the decrease in the volume of Russia's imports from France (1.36 tonnes) and Turkey (0.52 kt).

In 2017-2021 years the import of baking yeast in Russia will continue to fall, the rate of decline will range from 12.2 percent in 2017 to 5.5% in 2021, the Main factors contributing to a drop in foreign supplies of yeast on the Russian market, will serve, first, limited domestic demand for products, the volume of which is gradually reduced; secondly, the opening at the end of 2015 to LLC "Voronezh yeast" of a new plant for the production of dried yeast and starting in 2017 a new production of yeast in the Lipetsk region with capacity of 20 thousand t, that will lead to increased product offerings on the market; thirdly, the intense trade and economic relations with Ukraine, which up to 2013 inclusive was the main supplier of these products to Russia; fourthly, the rise in the cost of imported products in connection with the devaluation of the Russian ruble in 2014-2015

It is expected that the import of baking yeast on the Russian market in 2021 will amount to 3.99 thousand tons, which is by 38.2% to give the value of 2016 In 2021 the share of imported products will be 2.8% of total Russian production.
