On 7 November the Director of the international cooperation Department of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia Olga Garshina held a meeting of the Russian-Italian working group on agriculture and took part in the meeting of the Russian-Italian Council on economic, industrial and currency-technical cooperation.
The participants of the meeting confirmed mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation, noting the importance of expanding cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The meeting discussed measures to expand bilateral trade between Russia and Italy, condition, prospects and the main directions of the Russian-Italian agricultural cooperation, exhibition and Congress activities, investments and implementation of joint projects in the agricultural sector in the two countries. Separately addressed the issue of revitalization of the phytosanitary services of the two countries with the aim of resuming imports of Italian grapes saplings on the territory of the Russian Federation.
Following the meeting confirmed the two countries ' readiness to sign a Memorandum of understanding between the agrarian ministries of the two countries to strengthen cooperation between Russia and Italy.
Also on 7 November Olga garshyna took part in the plenary session of the Russian-Italian Council on economic, industrial and currency-technical cooperation, chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich and Minister for foreign Affairs and international cooperation of the Italian Republic Angelino Alfano, in which she informed the co-chairs of the Council on the outcome of the Russian-Italian working group on agriculture during the intersessional period.
