Poland: In the coming years to win Achs impossible.
During the last conference organized by the Polish National Union of employers-producers of pigs, Professor Zygmunt Pejsak from the State veterinary Institute concluded the epizootic situation with respect to the virus of ASF in wild boars: in the coming years to overcome the disease impossible.

Today of ASF in wild boar is present in four provinces: Podlasie, Lublin, Warmia-Mazury and Mazowieckie. Infected animals spread to 175 km inland from the Eastern border and 325 miles along the Eastern border. The speed of transfer of the virus by wild boars is 5 km in a month.

According to Professor, it is very difficult to take control of the disease in freely migrating animals. In the next 10-15 years vaccine is no disease, and no vaccine success against the impossible. Most likely, the ASF will sooner or later be transferred to other province. The larger the population of wild boars in the area, the faster it spreads.

As reported by Pasek, 4 years ago, it was clear what to do with boars. It was assumed that the virus will kill wild boars in a natural way. In practice it turned out that the population, despite the disease, is not reduced. Six months after the occurrence of the disease opinion has changed on the need to reduce the population. To combat African swine fever among wild boars required the extreme shooting to reduce the population to a level below 0.1 boar per sq. km.

Curve growth in the incidence of wild boars is growing dramatically quickly: in 2014 identified 30 cases of ASF in 2015 53 2016 80 2017 - 741, and only in January of this year 323. Obviously, it is not only the result of the spread of the disease, but also increase the intensity of the study of the dead and shot wild boars. The results confirm that the disease will not be stopped, if the boar population will remain at a constant level.

For the national pork producers this means that in the near future they will have to learn to work in the presence of the ASF virus, which will appear on all greater Poland. This will increase the level of risk to pig farming, because the more virus in the environment, the greater the probability of inclusion in the economy.

Every year, wild boar population is increasing, according to various estimates, 110% - 150%, so traditional methods of shooting are not relevant. Last year was shot 6 times more boars than 30 years ago, but in spite of this, wild boars and shooting has not kept pace with the multiplication of these animals.

In monitoring the virus experts note that more and more wild boars are living with the disease longer than previously assumed. Now, however, all the wild boars die, and no chronic carriers.
