"The international markets recorded minor seasonal variations of diet, because you won't find one European country where the prices of agroproducts, depending on the season can vary by 10 times. We have, for example, tomatoes in the summer are 150 drams, winter — 1500 AMD, in Italy this season tomato is sold for 1 Euro, we have 3 Euro in Armenian dram equivalent", — quotes the words of expert news.am.

He noted that very often a seasonal decline in vegetable consumption in Armenia is associated with the fact that people do not like to consume vegetables in season, but this is a false statement, as revealed last year, cheap Turkish tomatoes quickly realized.

Also, continued David Pipoyan, from meat production in the years 2015-2017, in Armenia largely used beef, but due to higher prices for red meat chicken consumption, for example, in Yerevan during the first months of 2018 has increased 2.5 times.

According to him, implementation of safety management systems and examination of food products in rural areas will lead to a rise in price of agricultural products.

"In no European country it is impossible to sell the goods without examination certification, but we all know that in Armenia in the summer on the streets and in the yards do not sell certified agricultural products," — said the expert.

According to him, the government has no control over these sales, therefore, cannot guarantee the security of non-certified products.

"The tightening of control over the safety of agricultural products will cause a wave of discontent, but we must understand that the production and consumption of safe food will only contribute to the development of the agrarian sphere in Armenia," concluded David Pipoyan.
