"The first St. George cannery" opened in the city of Georgievsk of Stavropol territory, after the reconstruction and technical re-equipment. The investor has invested in the revival of the company, which had stood for 15 years, more than 500 million rubles, said on Thursday the press-service of the Governor of the province.

"Technical re-equipment of the enterprise made in the framework of the investment project worth more than 553 million rubles ... After reaching full capacity, the production volume needs to be up to 70 million cans per year. It is expected that the company will take up to 4% of the Russian market of canned fruits and vegetables", the report States.

The plant is expected to create 200 permanent jobs and about 50 jobs during the period of seasonal work. "In previous years in Georgievsk was a powerful processing industry, and today we are reviving the company, which should serve the people and help develop the Stavropol region. The event is very important", - said at the opening ceremony Governor Vladimir Vladimirov.

The St. George cannery was built in 1930, at peak production it produced about 60 million conventional cans per year. In the early 2000-ies the company went bankrupt, the recovery started after the change of ownership.
