The parties discussed mutual cooperation on Thursday at the meeting of the Russian-Uruguayan working group on agriculture, fisheries, veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance in the framework of the II meeting of the Russian-Uruguay mixed Commission of assistance to development of trade-economic relations.

"The sides consider it possible to establish closer cooperation in such areas as education and scientific-technical cooperation, as well as significantly increase the supply of agricultural products. Russia continues to be interested in supplying the Uruguayan soybeans", — stated in the message.

It is clarified that in Uruguay there are technologies of cultivation, storage and shipment of soybeans, allows you to send to Russia only those parties that meet the requirements of safety of GM products. The possibility of separation of soybean products open to Uruguayan importers competitive Russian market, according to the Agency.

"In turn, Uruguay has expressed a willingness to consider the establishment deliveries of Russian grain, oil and fat and meat products. In particular, the parties agreed that Uruguay will be sent to the Russian veterinary-sanitary requirements for imported livestock products", — added in Department.

The Rosselkhoznadzor suggested that the Uruguayan party to conduct a risk analysis and assessment of the Russian system of ensuring the safety of products intended for export. In addition, the parties discussed the use of electronic veterinary certification during mutual supplies of food. According to the service, Uruguay has indicated its willingness to engage in the exchange of documents accompanying livestock goods in electronic form.

According to the Ministry, Uruguay is an important trading partner of Russia. This year there is positive dynamics in bilateral trade, however, there is serious potential for diversifying and increasing the volume of mutual deliveries. This is due to the fact that imports from Uruguay 97% of food products and agricultural raw materials in Russian exports consists almost entirely of petroleum products and fertilizers.
